It is known as arrhythmia any heart rhythm disorder. There are different types of very different arrhythmias in terms of severity and treatment, and generally assume that the heart beats too fast (tachycardia) or too slow (bradycardia) or with an irregular rhythm. The most common arrhythmia is atrial fibrillation, which causes an irregular and rapid heartbeat.
The arrhythmia may occur with one or more of the following symptoms:

• Feeling the heart rollover.
• palpitations (rapid heartbeat perception and strong heart).
• Dizziness.
• Sweating.
• Loss of consciousness.
• Chest pain.
• Shortness of breath.

For the diagnosis of cardiac arrhythmias noninvasive tests are very useful as echocardiography, Holter monitoring or exercise testing. In some cases invasive electrophysiological studies (catheter) may be necessary. The treatment of cardiac arrhythmias may require from only changes in lifestyle or drugs until tachycardia ablation or implantation of a pacemaker or defibrillator, depending on the type and severity of the arrhythmia.
